Welcome to the second annual Six Hours in Paradise. As you can probably tell from the name, this is a six hour timed event. If you’re really savy, you’d know that it’s happening in Paradise Park in Windsor, VT! Race starts at 9:30AM on August 13th and will end six hours later – do the math. This year’s event will include a 6 hour, two-person relay. Each team member will be responsible for running two 1.5 hour blocks.
Registration: If you want to sign-up online you can do so on ultrasignup.com at Six Hours in Paradise. You can also choose to exchange the online surcharge fee for a stamp and pay the Post Office by sending a check made out to:
Dead Skunk Racing, Ltd. Co.
2204 Oconee Church Road
Dublin, GA 31021
Application here: Six Hours in Paradise Application
Registration fees are as follows:
Until May 1: $35
May 1-July 3: $43
July 5-August 13: $50
Until May 1: $53
May 2-July 3: $63
July 4-August 13: $75
There will also be race day registration provided the race doesn’t sell out.
The loop is about 2.2 miles long with over 200 feet of elevation change per lap. The race will start and finish at a pavilion in the middle of the park that will provide shelter to timers, aid station goods, and participant property given rainy weather. There will also be a port-a-potty.
The course will consist of some carriage road, a bit of grass, some wider trails and some single track, as well as a stream crossing depending on weather and whether or not the bridge has been replaced by August.
Awards and Registration Stuff: There will be unique finishers awards for everyone and first place awards for overall male and female participants.
Your registration fee includes a Dead Skunk Racing buff and some other goodies. T-shirts might be available on race day for a small fee – they might even include the ‘Six Hours in Paradise’ logo.
Aid: There will be an aid station of sorts at the pavilion. We will be supplying water, Nuun, bananas, fig newtons, gummy bears and maybe a vegetable to round things out (celery and ranch in the middle of an ultra?). If there’s something special you’d like to bring, there will be a place you can set your stuff so that it will be easily accessible.
Parking: There will be some parking at the Paradise Park trail head on County Road, but this lot is small and will fill quickly. Instead of clogging the parking lot, it is preferable if runners use the parking lot across the road at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital. There will be a sign, but please use the lower lot to the left as you enter the Hospital. Patient parking to the right and emergency parking straight ahead need to remain clear for Hospital patients. Check the runner’s packet for more information.
